A DIRECT PURCHASE ALTERNATIVE
Start With the Details of Your Michigan RV
Selling an RV does not have to begin with a public advertisement. If your motorhome, camper van, travel trailer, or fifth wheel is in Michigan, you can ask RVBuyerUSA to consider purchasing it directly.
RVBuyerUSA has been buying RVs since 2008 and evaluates vehicles from owners throughout all 50 states. We primarily work with private owners, although RV dealerships can also submit purchase inquiries.
A private listing involves choosing an asking price, communicating with shoppers, scheduling viewings, and deciding how to handle payment and ownership documents. A direct purchase inquiry is different. You provide your RV details to a prospective buyer who evaluates whether a purchase might be possible.
That does not mean every RV qualifies or that an offer is automatically generated. Your request is free, and you decide whether to proceed if an offer becomes available.

WHAT TO SHARE
What Information Helps Us Review Your RV?
A useful RV evaluation starts with accurate information, not an optimistic description or a complete mechanical inspection. Tell us what you know and identify what has not been tested.
Vehicle Identity
Provide the year, make, model, RV type, approximate length, and floorplan when known. For motorized RVs, include the mileage if available.
Current Condition
Explain whether the motorhome starts and drives or the trailer can be moved. Mention mechanical problems, previous water intrusion, roof damage, and untested equipment.
Location and Access
Include the Michigan ZIP code where the RV is actually parked. Note whether it is at a residence, campground, repair facility, storage lot, or rural property.
Ownership Documents
Identify whether you have the title, whether additional owners are listed, and whether a lender or other lienholder still has an interest in the vehicle.
Explain What You Have Not Checked
An RV that has been parked for several seasons may have systems that have not been operated recently. It is better to report an unknown condition than to state that the plumbing, generator, brakes, or slide-outs work when they have not been tested.
You can begin with the short hero form. The optional Message field is useful for additional condition, title, and access details. Photos or other information may be requested later if they are relevant to an individual review.
MICHIGAN STORAGE AND ACCESS
Selling an RV After Seasonal Storage in Michigan
Many Michigan RV owners use their vehicles seasonally or store them for extended periods. Storage itself does not mean an RV is damaged. However, the amount of time since its last use and the steps taken before storage can provide valuable context.
Winter Storage and Plumbing
If your RV was winterized, mention when and how it was prepared. Report any known frozen lines, plumbing leaks, damaged fittings, or problems discovered when water systems were used again.
If you have not tested the water system since storage, simply say so.
Batteries, Tires and Equipment
Batteries may have been disconnected, removed, or left installed during storage. Tires and moving components may also need attention before the RV can be transported.
Tell us whether the RV starts, whether the tires hold air, and which systems have been tested recently.
Storage Facilities and Campgrounds
Some RVs are parked behind controlled gates or on seasonal campground lots. Entry hours, outstanding storage charges, permission from the property operator, or a narrow approach may affect collection arrangements.
Identify these restrictions before an agreed pickup is planned.
Rural Properties and Seasonal Access
An RV kept on a northern Michigan property may be reachable by a gravel drive, private road, or shared seasonal access route.
Describe the actual ground and road conditions. Michigan’s seasonal weight restrictions can also affect some transport vehicles during spring thaw, depending on the roadway.
Do Not Move an Unsafe RV Just to Request an Evaluation
A motorhome that starts is not necessarily roadworthy. Likewise, a fifth wheel with weak landing gear, damaged tires, or a questionable hitch connection should not be moved simply to prepare an inquiry.
RVBuyerUSA considers damaged and non-running RVs individually. Free towing is included with an agreed purchase, but the ability to collect a specific RV depends on its condition, location, access, documentation, and transaction terms.
For statewide transport guidance, see Michigan Department of Transportation seasonal weight restrictions.
RV CATEGORIES
Motorhomes, Travel Trailers and Other RVs We Consider
Different RV designs bring different questions to a possible purchase. A motorhome has mechanical and vehicle systems, while a towable RV depends on its frame, hitch or pin connection, axles, and ability to support itself safely.
Class A Motorhomes
Include fuel type, mileage, engine and transmission condition, generator function, slide-outs, and any problems with air suspension or leveling systems. Mention whether the vehicle can currently be driven.
Class B Motorhomes and Camper Vans
Provide the chassis or van model, mileage, conversion details, and condition of installed camping equipment. Let us know if the interior was custom-built or substantially modified.
Class C Motorhomes
Describe mechanical operation, mileage, cab-over condition, roof joints, living-space systems, and any prior water intrusion. Identify repairs separately from problems that remain unresolved.
Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels
Useful details include frame condition, axles, tires, brakes, roof, floors, slide-outs, and towing connections. Fifth-wheel owners should also describe the kingpin area and landing gear. Michigan’s trailer-coach titling rules are discussed in the ownership section.
Toy Haulers and Other RVs
For a toy hauler, mention the garage floor, loading ramp, hinges, tie-down points, and any powered equipment. Inquiries about pop-up campers and other recreational vehicles are also considered individually.
An RV’s category alone does not establish its value or purchase eligibility. The actual condition, configuration, location, and documentation all matter.
DESCRIBE THE CONDITION
How RV Condition Affects an Individual Purchase Evaluation
An RV’s visible appearance only tells part of its story. A unit with a clean exterior can still have water damage or mechanical problems, while a vehicle with cosmetic wear may have functioning systems.
RVBuyerUSA evaluates each RV individually. There is no universal acceptance rule or guaranteed valuation.
Engine and Driving Condition
For a motorhome or camper van, report starting problems, engine warnings, transmission faults, brake concerns, and how long the vehicle has been parked. State whether it can drive rather than assuming it is safe for highway travel.
Roof, Walls and Moisture
Describe roof leaks, soft flooring, stained ceilings, wall separation, window leaks, or previous repairs. If an area was repaired, identify the work completed and whether additional moisture has been observed.
Tires, Axles and Towing Components
For towable RVs, identify damaged axles, missing or worn tires, brake issues, hitch problems, and damaged landing gear. These details can affect transportation feasibility.
Interior Systems and Appliances
Report issues with electrical systems, heating, cooling, plumbing, water heaters, holding tanks, generators, appliances, and slide-outs. Distinguish verified working systems from those not recently tested.
Collision, Fire, Flood or Hail Damage
Identify any known collision damage, significant hail damage, smoke or fire exposure, flooding, or structural deterioration. Tell us if an insurer declared the RV a total loss.
Long-Term Storage and Collection Needs
Explain whether the RV is parked on pavement, gravel, grass, or soft ground. Mention locked gates, limited maneuvering space, missing wheels, or other conditions that may affect safe access.
An Offer Is Not the Same as an Advertised Retail Price
Online listings may show asking prices that sellers hope to receive. A potential direct-purchase offer considers the particular vehicle and transaction, which may involve different costs, risks, and logistics than a private retail sale.
For a broader explanation, read Value My RV. A purchase inquiry is not a certified appraisal and does not guarantee a price.
MICHIGAN OWNERSHIP CHECKLIST
Michigan RV Titles and Ownership Documents
Michigan RV sellers should understand their ownership documents before completing a transaction. A motorhome, a recreational trailer coach, and a vehicle with a recorded lender may involve different paperwork.
You do not need to finish the title transfer before submitting an inquiry. It helps to know what documents you have and whether there is an unresolved ownership question.
The following guidance is general seller preparation information. Michigan’s Secretary of State and applicable law control the actual requirements.
1. Check the Title and Listed Owners
A Michigan title identifies the vehicle and recorded ownership. For an applicable vehicle sale, the seller’s portion of the title needs to be completed accurately, including the buyer and seller information, required signatures, and mileage disclosure when applicable.
Check the VIN and the names listed on the title. If more than one owner is recorded, confirm the signature requirements for that title and transaction. Do not sign on behalf of another owner without the proper authority.
The Michigan Secretary of State recommends that buyers and sellers complete the transaction together when possible. An agent or power of attorney may be appropriate in certain circumstances.

2. Lost or Damaged Michigan Titles
If your Michigan title was lost, stolen, or damaged, determine whether you can request a duplicate before proceeding with a sale.
Michigan provides duplicate-title services through eligible online transactions and Secretary of State office visits. The ordinary duplicate-title fee is $15, while eligible same-day instant-title service is listed at $20. Eligibility and the appropriate process depend on the ownership record.
If the vehicle has an electronic title with an active lien, a duplicate paper title generally cannot simply be issued until the lender-related requirements are satisfied.
You can still request an RV evaluation while checking how to resolve the missing title. Do not claim that you can transfer ownership without the documents required for your particular situation.

3. Michigan Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels Have Specific Title Rules
Michigan distinguishes ordinary trailers from recreational trailer coaches.
A trailer coach is intended for temporary living accommodation and is towed by another vehicle. The category includes travel trailers, fifth wheels, and pop-up campers.
Michigan requires trailer coaches to be titled and registered with permanent trailer plates. It also requires titles for pickup campers. The general rule that ordinary trailers weighing less than 2,500 pounds are not required to be titled does not remove the trailer-coach title requirement.
Permanent trailer plates do not expire and are nontransferable. This is different from assuming a plate automatically follows a recreational trailer when it is sold.
If you are unsure whether your RV is classified as a trailer coach, a pickup camper, or another type of trailer, check the Secretary of State record.

4. What Happens if the RV Still Has a Loan?
You may request an evaluation while you still owe money on an RV. However, an outstanding lien must be addressed appropriately before the ownership transfer can be completed.
For a paper Michigan title, the Secretary of State identifies lien termination or qualifying lender authorization as relevant to the transfer. An electronic title generally cannot be transferred until the lien is released.
If your lender participates in Michigan’s Electronic Lien and Title program, it maintains the electronic title record and handles the release process. The Secretary of State does not independently release the lender’s electronic lien.
Before agreeing to sell, confirm the loan balance and the method for completing any necessary release or authorized transfer. Do not assume RVBuyerUSA offers a particular loan payoff service unless it has been expressly agreed for the transaction.

5. Motorhome Mileage Disclosures and Applicable Exemptions
Michigan requires accurate odometer disclosure for motor vehicles subject to the applicable mileage-reporting rules. For a qualifying motorhome, the reading may be recorded on the title or through the appropriate mileage statement when needed.
Important exemptions exist. Non-self-propelled trailers are generally exempt from federal odometer disclosure. Qualifying vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 16,000 pounds or more are also exempt. Vehicles from model year 2010 or earlier remain subject to the former age-based exemption, while model year 2011 and newer vehicles use the newer 20-year exemption framework.
Do not guess the mileage or claim a motorhome is exempt based only on its size or age. Verify the actual vehicle and title documentation.

6. Seller Records, License Plates and Title Transfer Timing
Michigan advises applicable motor vehicle sellers to retain a copy of the assigned title and documentation of the sale for at least 18 months. Michigan law also provides a mechanism for sellers to establish that the vehicle was properly transferred.
For motor vehicles, the seller ordinarily removes the license plate before the buyer takes possession, with certain family-transfer exceptions. Trailer plates have separate nontransferability rules.
Michigan generally requires the buyer to complete a vehicle title transfer within 15 days after the sale. That buyer deadline should not be confused with a general seller notice requirement.
Make sure that the transaction is properly documented, that the required title assignment is completed, and that any applicable plate and reporting responsibilities are understood.

7. Inspections, Emissions and Special Vehicle Situations
Michigan does not impose a general statewide emissions inspection for ordinary used motorhome sales. Certain transactions can still require an inspection or special documentation, including rebuilt salvage vehicles and some assembled or otherwise specially classified vehicles.
The appropriate procedure depends on the title classification, vehicle history, and transaction.
If an RV has a special title status, do not assume an ordinary title assignment will be sufficient. Confirm the requirements with the Michigan Secretary of State.

8. Salvage, Rebuilt Salvage and Scrap Titles
The physical condition of an RV and its legal title status are separate matters. Significant damage does not automatically establish that the RV has a salvage title.
Michigan distinguishes salvage, rebuilt salvage, and scrap vehicle records. A repaired salvage vehicle must satisfy applicable recertification requirements before it can return to ordinary road use. A scrap title carries substantially different restrictions.
If the title contains a brand, report the exact brand rather than describing the RV as simply damaged or repaired.
RVBuyerUSA can consider inquiries involving damaged RVs, but no particular branded-title vehicle is guaranteed to qualify for purchase.
Official resource: Michigan Secretary of State: Title Information.
Legal information is provided for seller preparation and may depend on the vehicle, the registered owners, the title record, and the particular transaction. Official agency instructions control.
FROM INQUIRY TO POSSIBLE PURCHASE
How a Possible RV Purchase Works
A purchase inquiry is the beginning of a review, not an agreement to sell. The steps below explain the general process so you can decide whether a direct sale makes sense.
Step 1 – Submit Your RV Details
Start with the hero form. Provide your name, contact information, current RV ZIP code, and year, make, and model. Include known condition or title issues in the optional Message field.
Step 2 – Individual RV Review
RVBuyerUSA considers the information submitted to determine whether a direct purchase may be possible. Additional details, photos, ownership information, or a condition inspection may be relevant. Not every inquiry results in an offer.
Step 3 – Review Any Proposed Offer
If an offer is available, consider the amount and any conditions. Ask how payment, ownership documents, an outstanding loan, and vehicle collection would be handled. You are not obligated to accept an offer.
Step 4 – Complete an Agreed Purchase
If both parties agree to proceed, the applicable paperwork, payment arrangements, and collection details must be coordinated. Free towing is included with an agreed purchase. No universal payment or pickup deadline is promised.

MICHIGAN STATEWIDE INQUIRIES
Michigan Communities Where Owners Can Request RV Evaluations
RVBuyerUSA considers RV purchase inquiries throughout Michigan, from the Detroit metropolitan area to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
The locations below describe geographic coverage, not RVBuyerUSA physical offices or guarantees of specific collection schedules.
Detroit, Ann Arbor and Southeast Michigan
Owners in Detroit, Dearborn, Warren, Troy, Novi, Ann Arbor, and nearby Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw County communities may submit inquiries.
Tell us if the RV is parked in a residential driveway, at a repair business, or behind a storage facility gate. Larger motorhomes and trailers may need sufficient clearance and turning space.
Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and West Michigan
Inquiries may come from Grand Rapids, Holland, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, and surrounding communities in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, and Kalamazoo counties.
An RV might be in a driveway, indoor storage building, campground, or outdoor storage lot. The access arrangements and vehicle condition are more useful than the city name alone.
Lansing, Flint and Mid-Michigan
Owners around Lansing, East Lansing, Jackson, Battle Creek, Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland can also request an evaluation.
If the RV has spent several years on a private property or at a seasonal campground, mention when it was last operated and whether tires, brakes, and other systems have been checked.
Traverse City and the Northern Lower Peninsula
Northern Lower Peninsula inquiries may come from Traverse City, Cadillac, Gaylord, Petoskey, Alpena, and nearby communities.
For RVs stored at seasonal properties or in rural areas, describe any private roads, narrow access routes, soft ground, or weather-related obstacles that are actually present.
Marquette, Houghton and the Upper Peninsula
RV owners in Marquette, Houghton, Escanaba, Sault Ste. Marie, and other Upper Peninsula communities may submit purchase inquiries as well.
Longer distances, seasonal road access, and the vehicle’s ability to be transported can be relevant to a purchase review. The location of an RV in the Upper Peninsula does not automatically exclude it from consideration.
Outside these communities? You can still submit your Michigan RV information. The ZIP code and exact storage situation will help identify where the RV is located.
