A DIRECT PURCHASE OPTION
Sell Your Texas RV Without Advertising It to the Public
Selling an RV privately can involve pricing it, creating an advertisement, responding to prospective buyers, coordinating showings and deciding how to complete the paperwork. A direct purchase inquiry gives you another option.
RVBuyerUSA purchases recreational vehicles directly. We primarily work with private owners, although Texas RV dealerships may also submit inquiries. Instead of publishing a listing, you send us information about the RV so we can consider whether a purchase may be possible.
That distinction can be useful when your motorhome is taking up driveway space, your travel trailer remains at a paid storage facility, or your fifth wheel has not moved in several seasons. You can begin with the condition and location you know today.
An individual review does not guarantee a purchase. If RVBuyerUSA proposes an offer, you can consider its terms before deciding whether to proceed.
Direct Purchase Inquiry
Ask RVBuyerUSA to consider buying your RV rather than listing it publicly for individual shoppers.
Your Actual Texas Location
Share the ZIP Code where your RV is parked, even if it differs from your residential or mailing address.
Terms Before a Sale
Any proposed purchase must be considered alongside ownership documentation and agreed transaction arrangements.
If you are comparing ways to sell, the RVBuyerUSA buying process explains how an inquiry may develop into an agreed purchase.
HELPFUL RV INFORMATION
What to Tell Us About Your RV
You do not need to prepare a professional appraisal before contacting RVBuyerUSA. A clear description of the vehicle helps establish what additional information may be needed.
For example, a 2018 fifth wheel that has remained on a seasonal site will raise different questions than a 2018 motorhome that has been regularly driven and serviced. The same model year alone cannot establish condition or possible purchase terms.
Vehicle Identity and Ownership
Year, Make, Model and RV Type
Provide the manufacturer, model year, model name and whether the RV is a Class A, Class B, Class C, travel trailer, fifth wheel, camper van, toy hauler or another type. A floor plan or trim can help distinguish similar units.
Title, Owners and Financing
Mention whether a title is available, whether additional owners are recorded, whether a lender holds an interest, and whether the RV carries a title brand.
Operating and Interior Condition
For motorhomes, describe mileage and known driving problems. For any RV, identify important issues involving roofing, flooring, plumbing, electrical systems, slides, appliances or water intrusion.
ZIP Code and Physical Access
Use the RV’s current Texas ZIP Code. Mention a gated lot, private road, narrow driveway, difficult terrain or another condition that could affect inspection or transportation arrangements.
Photographs and Additional Details
During a review, RVBuyerUSA may request images of the exterior, living space, identification information and known problem areas.
Helpful photographs can show roof damage, soft flooring, broken windows, slide-out alignment, collision damage or other visible concerns. Do not expose private identification documents or lender information through an unapproved communication channel.

TEXAS RV STORAGE AND ACCESS
Texas RV Storage and Collection Readiness
An RV’s present location can change what is involved in moving it. Texas owners may store motorhomes and trailers at home, in commercial RV facilities, at lake properties, on ranch land or at long-term camping locations.
You do not need to move your RV simply to request an evaluation. Describe the circumstances so potential transportation requirements can be considered.
Commercial Storage Facilities
Check whether your storage agreement requires an appointment, advance notice or written release before the RV can leave. Mention gate access, available hours and whether the account has outstanding charges.
Residential Properties
A large Class A coach or long fifth wheel may be difficult to maneuver through a residential gate or narrow driveway. Describe obstacles, overhead clearance and available turning space.
Rural Land and Private Roads
Ranch roads, cattle guards, unpaved surfaces, soft ground and steep approaches may influence transport planning. Mention any known restrictions or hazards along the access route.
Outdoor and Coastal Storage
If the RV has known hail damage, sun-related deterioration, wind damage or previous water intrusion, describe the evidence and any repairs. Its geographic location alone does not prove damage.
Practical Preparation Before an Agreed Collection
If a sale moves forward, you may need to coordinate access with a storage manager, confirm where keys are located, remove personal belongings and clarify whether the RV can move safely.
A towable RV may have tire, brake, hitch, axle or landing gear problems even when its interior is in good condition. A motorhome may start but not be safe to drive.
Do not attempt repairs, towing or driving that could place people or property at risk merely to make the vehicle available. The appropriate movement arrangements should be agreed upon for the individual transaction.
Free towing is included with an agreed RVBuyerUSA purchase. It is not a promise of free transportation for every inquiry.
RV CATEGORIES
RV Types Considered in Texas
The type of RV affects the information needed for an individual review. Motorhomes have automotive drivetrains, while travel trailers and fifth wheels depend on towing components and separate running gear.
Class A Motorhomes
Provide approximate mileage, chassis and engine details, generator condition, slide-out operation and any known brake, steering or leveling problems. Large-coach access and clearance can matter when collection is discussed.
Class B Motorhomes and Camper Vans
Share information about drivetrain performance, mileage, electrical equipment, batteries, roof additions and the living-space conversion. Explain significant changes from the original factory configuration.
Class C Motorhomes
Describe the cab, engine, transmission, generator, coach systems and roof condition. Mention any signs of moisture around the overhead sleeping area or the connection between the cab and coach.
Travel Trailers
Useful details include the roof and wall condition, frame, tires, wheel bearings, brakes, hitch, plumbing and interior systems. Disclose known leaks or issues that could affect safe towing.
Fifth Wheels
Explain the condition of the pin box, landing gear, axles, tires, slide-outs and major living systems. If it has remained on a permanent or seasonal site, mention access and whether it is prepared for movement.
Toy Haulers and Other RVs
For toy haulers, describe the garage floor, loading ramp, tie-downs, suspension and living area. Other recreational vehicles can be submitted with their identifying information and known condition.
RVBuyerUSA considers each recreational vehicle individually. No vehicle type, age or category guarantees an offer.
DAMAGE AND CONDITION
Older, Damaged and Non-Running RVs in Texas
An RV does not have to be in showroom condition to be submitted. RVBuyerUSA considers damaged vehicles and units with mechanical or mobility problems, subject to individual review.
The best description separates what is known from what is uncertain.
Motorhome Mechanical Problems
If a motorhome does not start, explain whether the problem has been diagnosed, when the vehicle last ran and whether it can roll or steer.
A discharged battery, a failed transmission and a damaged engine are different issues. Accurate information is more useful than a repair estimate based on guesswork.
Roof, Moisture and Structural Concerns
Water intrusion can affect more than visible upholstery. It may involve the ceiling, walls, subfloor, insulation, electrical components and cabinetry.
Describe where a leak occurred, whether the area feels soft, whether repairs were performed and whether the problem appears active. Texas owners should disclose known storm-related or water damage, but should not assume damage solely because an RV has been stored outdoors.
Tires, Suspension and Towing Equipment
For travel trailers and fifth wheels, long storage periods can leave uncertainty about tires, bearings, brakes and suspension.
If a hitch, pin box, landing gear or axle is damaged, explain that before any movement is planned. A trailer that is unsuitable for normal towing may need different transportation arrangements.
Damage History and Title Brands
A previous collision, flood loss or insurance-related title brand can affect the review.
If the RV has a salvage, rebuilt salvage or nonrepairable designation, disclose it as recorded. These classifications have different legal consequences, and not every vehicle can be purchased or transported in the same manner.
An inquiry is free, but RVBuyerUSA does not guarantee acceptance of a damaged or branded-title RV.
Tell Us About the RV as It Sits Today
You can start with the details you know, including significant damage or problems that affect movement. A purchase offer is not automatic.
TEXAS TITLE AND OWNERSHIP GUIDANCE
Texas RV Title Transfers, Liens and Seller Requirements
Texas RV owners should review their ownership documents before finalizing a sale. The specific paperwork depends on whether the vehicle is motorized or towable, how it is titled, whether a lien exists and who is legally authorized to transfer it.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) provides official title and transaction guidance. County tax assessor-collector offices handle many title and registration applications.
The information below is general seller guidance. Unusual ownership circumstances should be confirmed with the responsible agency before a transaction is completed.
Texas Titles and Vehicle Ownership
For a standard sale of a Texas-titled vehicle, the seller generally provides the properly assigned title showing the sale date and applicable mileage information.
TxDMV’s selling guidance also identifies the Application for Texas Title and/or Registration, Form 130-U, as part of the transaction documentation. The agency’s separate title-transfer FAQ explains that a seller signature is not required in every Form 130-U submission, so the correct instructions depend on the type of transaction.
The buyer generally must apply for title within 30 days after the sale. Licensed dealer transactions can follow different processing rules. This buyer deadline should not be confused with the seller’s Vehicle Transfer Notification.
Before completing a sale, compare the title’s VIN and ownership details with the RV. Confirm the signatures required from the persons legally authorized to transfer it.
Official guidance: TxDMV buying and selling guidance and TxDMV title-transfer FAQs.
Lost Texas Titles and Replacement Documents
When a Texas title is missing or destroyed, an eligible party can apply for a certified copy through Form VTR-34.
TxDMV states that all recorded owners must sign the application. Identification is required, and additional documents apply where a lien is recorded or an authorized agent acts for the owner.
A 30-day waiting period applies after the most recent title issuance before a certified copy can be requested.
If a recorded lien has already been paid but remains on the title record, an original lien release may be necessary. A bill of sale alone does not automatically replace the title required for a titled vehicle.
You can tell RVBuyerUSA that the title is missing. A completed purchase still depends on establishing valid ownership and the ability to transfer it lawfully.
Official guidance: Get a Copy of Your Vehicle Title.
Selling an RV That Still Has a Loan
You can submit an RV inquiry while financing remains outstanding, but a lien normally must be addressed before clear ownership can be transferred.
Tell RVBuyerUSA whether the lender is still owed money and whether the title exists on paper or electronically.
Texas has an Electronic Lien and Title program in which participating lienholders exchange title information with TxDMV electronically. When an electronic lien is satisfied, the lender coordinates its release through the state’s system.
Do not assume that having paid off a loan means the lien has already disappeared from the title record. Confirm its status with the lender and TxDMV where necessary.
RVBuyerUSA does not guarantee loan payoff services or acceptance of every financed vehicle.
Official guidance: TxDMV lien guidance and Electronic Lien and Title program.
Texas Vehicle Transfer Notification, Form VTR-346
After selling a Texas-titled motor vehicle, owners should pay particular attention to the Vehicle Transfer Notification.
TxDMV advises filing the notification within 30 days after the sale or trade-in. When submitted on time, the notification provides important protections related to certain parking and toll violations committed by the purchaser.
Filing the notification does not itself transfer title. The buyer’s title application remains a separate step.
This distinction is particularly relevant if a vehicle is sold to a licensed motor vehicle dealer. Texas generally does not require a dealer to title a vehicle in the dealership’s name before reselling it.
To submit a notice, use the official online notification service or follow the instructions on Form VTR-346. Keep accurate buyer details, the VIN and your transaction records.
Official guidance: Online Vehicle Transfer Notification and Form VTR-346.
Texas Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels
A common source of confusion is the distinction between travel trailers and ordinary utility trailers.
Texas generally uses a 4,000-pound gross weight threshold for the titling of certain manufactured utility trailers. That rule must not be assumed to exempt every small camping trailer from titling.
TxDMV’s title guidance separately addresses house trailers, camper trailers and travel trailer-type vehicles. These categories can have mandatory title and registration requirements based on their classification.
An existing trailer that was previously titled may also have to remain titled despite its weight.
When selling a fifth wheel, travel trailer or folding camper, review the actual classification and ownership record rather than relying solely on trailer weight. Unusual park models or vehicles permanently installed at a property may raise additional classification issues.
Official guidance: TxDMV trailer guidance and the TxDMV Motor Vehicle Title Manual.
Motorhome Odometer Disclosures
Odometer disclosure rules apply differently to certain motor vehicles and trailers.
Under federal rules, applicable model year 2011 and newer motor vehicles generally require mileage disclosure during the first 20 years. Model year 2010 and older vehicles continue under the earlier 10-year framework.
Federal exemptions also apply to certain vehicle classifications, including vehicles above the applicable weight threshold and vehicles that are not self-propelled.
Therefore, a motorhome should be evaluated according to its model year and legal vehicle classification. A non-self-propelled travel trailer does not have the same mileage disclosure requirement as an ordinary covered motor vehicle.
When a disclosure is required, provide accurate information and follow the applicable title-transfer instructions.
Official guidance: NHTSA odometer disclosure requirements.
Texas Inspections and Emissions Requirements
Texas ended routine safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. Commercial vehicle safety inspection requirements remain.
Emissions testing continues for eligible gasoline-powered vehicles registered in designated Texas counties. As of October 31, 2026, the designated counties include Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Travis, El Paso and other listed counties.
Bexar County, including San Antonio, is scheduled to join the emissions program on November 1, 2026. Texas DPS identifies the affected category as gasoline-powered vehicles from 2 through 24 years old that are registered in emissions counties, subject to applicable vehicle-specific exemptions.
These requirements generally relate to registration, and should not be presented as a universal safety inspection requirement that every RV must pass before any sale.
A towable travel trailer has no engine emissions test, while the applicable rules for motorized RVs depend on their classification and registration circumstances.
Official guidance: Texas DPS emissions criteria and Bexar County inspection guidance.
Salvage, Rebuilt and Nonrepairable Titles
Texas distinguishes important vehicle title classifications.
A salvage title indicates a vehicle has met applicable criteria associated with substantial damage. A rebuilt salvage title indicates a vehicle previously classified as salvage has undergone the applicable rebuilding and title process.
A nonrepairable designation is more restrictive. TxDMV states that a nonrepairable motor vehicle cannot be repaired or rebuilt for normal roadway use.
A vehicle with one of these records must not be represented as having an ordinary clean title. Special procedures, transfer limitations and licensing requirements can apply.
If your RV has any known title brand, describe it accurately and provide additional information when requested. RVBuyerUSA will consider whether an individual purchase is possible, but does not promise to purchase every branded-title vehicle.
Official guidance: TxDMV Title Check.
Out-of-State Titles, Inherited RVs and Multiple Owners
An RV located in Texas may have an ownership document issued elsewhere. Do not assume that every out-of-state title follows Texas signature or transfer requirements.
A deceased owner’s RV, a vehicle owned by a trust, or an RV titled to a business can also require specific documents establishing who has legal authority to transfer it.
If ownership records are incomplete or disputed, resolve the applicable documentation requirements before entering a final transaction. An inquiry does not remove the need for valid proof of ownership.
TxDMV can provide guidance for Texas title applications and inherited vehicle transfers, including situations where probate documentation or an heirship process is relevant.
Texas Seller Preparation Checklist
These are practical preparation steps, not a substitute for the documents legally required in your transaction.
- Locate your RV’s title or confirm its electronic status.
- Check recorded owner names and any outstanding liens.
- Verify the VIN and applicable odometer information.
- Review title-assignment and Form 130-U requirements.
- Understand the Vehicle Transfer Notification and its 30-day filing period.
- Confirm license plate handling under current TxDMV guidance.
- Preserve copies or records of the completed transaction.
For owner-specific documentation questions, contact TxDMV or the appropriate county tax assessor-collector office.
FROM INQUIRY TO AN AGREED SALE
How a Direct RV Purchase Inquiry Works
A Texas RV sale begins with a request, not a promise of a completed purchase. The review and any later transaction depend on the individual vehicle.
01. Send Your Vehicle Details
Provide the RV’s identifying details, actual location and contact information. Describe significant condition or title concerns if known.
02. RVBuyerUSA Reviews the Information
We consider whether a direct purchase may be possible. Additional photographs, documents or clarification may be requested.
03. You Consider Any Proposed Offer
If an offer is made, review the amount, conditions and relevant transaction details. You are free to decline.
04. Agree on the Sale and Collection
If both parties agree, the appropriate documentation, payment and vehicle collection arrangements are coordinated. Free towing is included with an agreed purchase.
The review does not follow a universal timeline. An RV with clear ownership records and straightforward access may require different arrangements from a non-running unit with a recorded lien or transportation restrictions.
An inquiry does not guarantee an offer, a fixed payment date or a particular collection schedule.
