SELL DIRECTLY TO AN RV BUYER
Explore Selling Your RV in Dallas Without a Public Listing
If you want to sell a motorhome or towable RV in Dallas, you can ask RVBuyerUSA to consider purchasing it directly. You do not have to create a classified advertisement or arrange individual shopper viewings before making an inquiry.
RVBuyerUSA has been buying recreational vehicles since 2008. We consider purchases nationwide, primarily from private RV owners. Dealership inquiries are welcome as well.
A vehicle’s year and model are only part of the evaluation. Where it is stored, whether it can be moved, its actual condition and who is authorized to sell it may all affect what happens next.
Dallas is part of our nationwide inquiry coverage. This does not mean that RVBuyerUSA operates a physical Dallas office, dealership or collection yard.
Start With the Vehicle You Actually Have
You can submit an RV that is regularly used, one that has remained in storage or one that needs repairs. Describe its present condition instead of making improvements solely to request an initial review.
Older, damaged and non-running vehicles may be considered individually. Not every vehicle will qualify for purchase.
Choose Whether a Direct Offer Fits
A direct purchase inquiry is an alternative to advertising, consignment or a dealer trade-in. It is not necessarily the right choice for every owner.
If an offer is made, you can compare its amount and conditions with your other options.
Understand What an Inquiry Means
Submitting your information requests a purchase review. It does not approve an automatic appraisal, establish a price or transfer ownership.
You remain free to decline any proposed offer. If a purchase is agreed upon, the parties must confirm the required documents, payment and vehicle handoff arrangements.

A DALLAS SELLER’S STARTING POINT
First Identify Where the RV Is Actually Parked
Dallas covers several counties, and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth region contains many separate cities. That geographic distinction matters when reviewing parking requirements or determining which authority handles a property-related question. For a purchase inquiry, start with the RV’s actual location rather than the owner’s mailing address or the nearest major city.
1. Is the RV Inside Dallas City Limits?
The City of Dallas extends into Dallas, Collin, Denton, Kaufman and Rockwall counties.
A Dallas city address therefore does not always mean the property is in Dallas County. Likewise, an RV with a Dallas mailing address may actually be stored in another municipality.
The ZIP code is useful for an initial inquiry, but it does not establish every legal boundary. If a parking or permit question arises, confirm the actual property jurisdiction.
2. Is It on Private Property or a Public Street?
Dallas has separate rules for public-street parking and accessory storage on residential property.
A vehicle parked on a street to display it for sale raises a different legal question from an RV parked on an approved surface at a residence.
Do not assume that moving a trailer to the curb is the best way to photograph or advertise it. First establish where it can be parked lawfully.
3. Who Can Authorize Access?
If the RV is at a commercial storage yard, repair shop, RV park or managed property, find out who controls the gate and who can authorize release.
An accepted offer does not override a storage agreement, unpaid charges or the rights of a property owner.
4. Can the RV Leave Its Parking Space Safely?
A fifth wheel may have accessible landing gear but no room for a compatible tow vehicle to reach the pin box. A motorhome may start but have unsafe brakes or tires.
Describe the available exit route, obstacles and known movement problems. Do not drive or tow an unsafe vehicle to prepare for an inquiry.
PREPARING YOUR RV DETAILS
What Information Helps With an RV Purchase Review?
A useful inquiry identifies the vehicle, its current condition and any issue that could affect a lawful transaction or safe movement.
Begin with what you know. If something has not been checked recently, say so rather than guessing.
Confirm the Year, Make and Model
Provide the manufacturer’s name, model year, model designation and RV type. The approximate length, floor plan and slide-out arrangement can help distinguish similar models.
For a customized camper van or specialty RV, identify significant modifications or equipment that may not appear in a standard model description.
Explain Motorhome Driving Condition
For a motorhome, include the current mileage if known and whether the engine starts.
Describe problems involving the transmission, steering, brakes or other components affecting normal operation. An engine that runs does not automatically make the coach safe to drive.
Describe Trailer Running Gear
For a travel trailer or fifth wheel, identify known problems with tires, wheels, axles, brakes and towing connections.
If the RV has been stationary for several years, explain when it was last towed and whether the running gear has been inspected since then.
Report Interior and Roof Condition
Mention roof leaks, stained ceilings, soft flooring, damaged sidewalls and slide-outs that do not operate correctly.
Plumbing, heating, cooling, appliances and electrical equipment can also matter. Separate confirmed failures from equipment that has not been tested.
Disclose Damage and Repair History
Tell us about known collision damage, storm damage, water intrusion or previous structural repairs.
If hail affected the roof, vents or exterior panels, identify the areas involved. If an earlier problem was repaired, describe the work and whether records are available.
North Texas weather alone does not establish that an RV has suffered damage.
Identify Ownership and Location Questions
State whether you have the title, whether another owner is listed and whether financing remains outstanding.
Provide the actual parking ZIP code and mention gates, property restrictions or anything that could prevent the RV from being accessed.
If photographs are requested during follow-up, clear images of the exterior, interior, visible defects and access route may be useful.

MOTORIZED AND TOWABLE RV TYPES
RV Types Dallas Owners Can Submit for Consideration
RVBuyerUSA evaluates a range of recreational vehicle types. Each category has different mechanical, structural and transportation considerations. The following vehicles may be submitted, but no type or model is automatically approved for purchase.
Class A Motorhomes
Class A motorhomes can be large, heavy vehicles with substantial living and mechanical systems.
Provide the approximate dimensions, mileage and available engine information. Explain any issues with the generator, leveling system, slide-outs or driving equipment.
If the coach is parked under a canopy or behind a narrow entrance, its height and available clearance may also matter.
Class B Motorhomes and Camper Vans
Class B RVs are generally built around a van platform and may include factory or custom living-space conversions.
The base vehicle’s drivetrain, mileage and maintenance history are relevant, along with installed batteries, electrical equipment, plumbing and interior modifications.
Explain whether additions such as roof equipment or exterior accessories affect the vehicle’s overall height or access.
Class C Motorhomes
A Class C motorhome combines a vehicle cab and chassis with a separately constructed living area.
Describe the chassis condition and any known issues involving the engine or transmission. Also identify leaks, damage or repairs around the cab-over section, roof openings and coach body.
Mechanical operation and living-area condition should be reported separately.
Travel Trailers
A travel trailer depends on a tow vehicle and its own hitch and running gear.
Useful details include the approximate length, coupler, frame, axles, brakes and tire condition. If it has been connected to utilities or kept in a fixed parking space, explain whether it is ready to be disconnected and moved.
A trailer may have a functional interior while still needing substantial towing repairs.
Fifth Wheels
A fifth wheel needs an appropriate towing connection, working support equipment and enough space for the tow vehicle to maneuver.
Include information about the pin box, landing gear, tires, axles and slide-outs.
If the fifth wheel is situated between other vehicles, close to a building or on a constrained lot, describe the hitch access and turning space.
Toy Haulers
Toy haulers combine living accommodation with a cargo area designed for equipment or recreational vehicles.
Describe the loading ramp, garage floor, cargo door, tie-downs and any visible damage.
The condition of the garage structure and the regular living systems should both be included in the review.
Truck Campers and Other RV Configurations
Truck campers and specialty recreational vehicles can also be submitted.
For a truck camper, explain the condition of its support jacks and mounting equipment, and whether the carrying truck is included in the proposed sale.
For unusual conversions or other RV categories, provide an accurate description of the unit and how it is transported.
DAMAGE, STORAGE AND MOVEMENT
Can You Submit a Damaged or Non-Running RV in Dallas?
Yes. Damaged and non-running recreational vehicles may be considered on an individual basis.
An initial inquiry does not require you to restore the vehicle to working condition. The important thing is distinguishing known defects from equipment that has not been checked.
A Motorhome That Starts but Should Not Be Driven
A motorhome may start normally but have defective brakes, steering problems, damaged tires or another condition that makes highway travel unsafe.
State what works and what does not. Do not test-drive the vehicle if its safety is uncertain.
Starting, driving and roadworthiness are separate questions.
A Motorhome That Does Not Start
If the engine will not start, describe the symptoms and when the vehicle last operated.
A dead battery, fuel-system problem and major engine failure may have very different implications.
If you do not know the cause, explain that it is undiagnosed. Do not assume that the RV can be moved using ordinary towing equipment.
A Trailer With Limited Mobility
A travel trailer may need attention to its brakes, bearings, tires or hitch. A fifth wheel may have damaged landing gear or an inaccessible pin box.
These problems can affect movement even when the living accommodation remains usable.
Report defects rather than attempting to move the trailer simply to prepare for an inquiry.
Water Damage, Storm Damage and Long-Term Storage
RVs stored outdoors may have experienced weather exposure, but actual condition must be established individually.
Describe known leaks, hail impacts, deteriorated seals, damaged awnings or interior water stains.
For a vehicle that has not been operated for an extended period, mention the last known condition of the tires, brakes, batteries and other major systems.
An untested component should be identified as untested, not automatically described as defective.
Free towing is included only with an agreed RVBuyerUSA purchase. A free inquiry does not create an entitlement to towing, and transportation feasibility must be considered for the actual vehicle.
FIVE PURCHASE STAGES
How a Possible Dallas RV Purchase Moves Forward
The process involves several distinct decisions. Submitting a request is not the same as receiving an offer, and accepting an offer is not the same as completing the ownership transfer.
1. Submit the RV Information
Enter your contact information, the year, make and model, and the ZIP code where the RV is located.
Describe significant defects, ownership concerns or access restrictions in the optional message field.
An inquiry is free and does not obligate you to sell.
2. Receive an Individual Review
RVBuyerUSA considers the information submitted to determine whether the RV may be suitable for a direct purchase.
The evaluation may consider vehicle type, condition, ownership and transportation circumstances.
No purchase offer is automatically generated simply because the form was submitted.
3. Clarify Important Details
Additional photographs, mechanical information, ownership documents or access details may be needed.
Some vehicles may require an inspection or further condition review.
An RV behind a storage gate or one that cannot move normally may require particular attention to release and transport conditions.
4. Review Any Proposed Offer
If a purchase offer is made, evaluate its price and terms.
Ask about any remaining verification, payment arrangements, required documents and responsibility for preparing the RV for handoff.
You may accept or decline the proposal without obligation.
5. Complete an Agreed Purchase
If both parties agree to proceed, the transaction must address valid ownership, any outstanding lien, agreed payment arrangements and appropriate vehicle release.
The RV should not be handed over until the necessary terms and documentation have been confirmed.
Free towing is included with an agreed purchase. No universal pickup date or payment deadline is promised.

DALLAS PARKING AND PROPERTY RULES
Dallas RV Parking Rules That Can Affect a Sale
Dallas RV owners should distinguish between parking a vehicle on a public street, keeping it on residential property and placing it on land in unincorporated Dallas County. Different authorities can apply, and the correct rule depends on the property’s actual location.
Displaying an RV for Sale on a Dallas Public Street
Dallas City Code Section 28-85 prohibits parking a vehicle on a street or highway for the purpose of displaying it for sale.
This is important when considering a private listing. Moving an RV onto a public street to display a sale sign is not the same as keeping it on lawfully used private property.
Section 28-84 separately restricts leaving an unattended vehicle or other private property standing or parked on a public street, alley or other public place for more than 24 continuous hours.
These provisions apply within the City of Dallas. They should not be treated as universal rules for every municipality in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Official references: Dallas Code Section 28-85 and Dallas Code Section 28-84.
Residential RV Storage Under Dallas Zoning Rules
Dallas Development Code Section 51A-4.217 addresses accessory outside storage, including recreational vehicles.
Its residential front-area provisions restrict certain outside storage between the street and main building while identifying conditions under which an RV or qualifying trailer may be placed on a compliant parking surface when it cannot reasonably be located behind the street-facing building facade.
Other conditions, including the property’s zoning designation and parking surface requirements, may matter.
Dallas also retains Chapter 51 for certain older properties and planned developments, so Chapter 51A should not be assumed to govern every parcel in the same way.
An RV parked in a driveway is not automatically permitted or prohibited solely because it is an RV. Verify the relevant zoning provisions and any applicable property restrictions.
Official references: Dallas Development Code Section 51A-4.217, Section 51A-4.301 and Chapter 51 accessory uses.
RV Placement on Unincorporated Dallas County Property
Dallas County’s Department of Unincorporated Area Services lists a Mobile Home Placement Application as required before placing a recreational vehicle on property in unincorporated Dallas County.
This is a placement requirement tied to that jurisdiction. It is not a universal City of Dallas rule or a separate permit that every owner must obtain merely to sell an existing RV.
Dallas County does not have the same general municipal zoning authority as an incorporated city, although it administers regulations applicable to unincorporated areas.
If your RV is on unincorporated county land and its placement or removal raises questions, consult the county before making assumptions.
Official references: Dallas County Applications and Permit Forms and Dallas County Zoning and Other Related Regulations.
RVs in Regulated Dallas County Floodplain Areas
Dallas County’s published Floodplain Management Regulations include provisions for recreational vehicles placed within specified mapped flood hazard zones.
The published 2019 rules identify alternatives involving placement for fewer than 180 consecutive days, highway-ready licensing and configuration, or compliance with applicable permit, elevation and anchoring requirements.
The county’s floodplain administration applies to unincorporated Dallas County. Properties inside incorporated cities are subject to the relevant municipal floodplain authority.
These requirements concern regulated placement and development. They do not mean that every RV in Dallas County needs a special permit simply to be sold.
If an RV is placed on property within a mapped flood hazard area, confirm the current map, regulations and correct permitting authority before changing its placement or permanent connections.
Official references: Dallas County Floodplain Administration and Dallas County Floodplain Management Regulations.
Lake Ray Hubbard RV and Camping Restrictions
Dallas City Code Section 32-78 contains specific camping and recreational vehicle parking restrictions for covered Lake Ray Hubbard and shoreline areas.
The provision restricts RV parking outside designated public campground locations and addresses written authorization for parking beyond two consecutive days.
This is not a citywide ban on storing recreational vehicles. Its geographic scope is specific to the covered lake and shoreline areas.
If your RV is located in an affected area, confirm the applicable rules and access permission before arranging movement.
Official reference: Dallas Code Section 32-78.
PRACTICAL VEHICLE ACCESS
Preparing an RV for Possible Collection in Dallas
You can begin a purchase inquiry while the RV remains where it is currently parked.
If an offer is later accepted, the parties need to establish whether the vehicle can be released and moved safely. A property manager’s permission and a clear exit route can be as important as the RV’s mechanical condition.
Residential Properties and Driveways
Check the route from the parked RV to the street.
For a motorhome, note low tree limbs, gates, overhead structures, driveway slope and available turning room. For a fifth wheel, identify whether a suitable tow vehicle can reach the hitch.
If the vehicle is blocked by other equipment or parked on unstable ground, mention that restriction.
Do not reposition it onto a public street merely to make a purchase inquiry easier.
Gated Storage Facilities
Confirm the facility’s location, gate procedures and available access hours.
Ask whether third-party inspection or vehicle release requires advance authorization. Determine whether unpaid storage charges or contract terms could affect release.
If the RV is in a tightly arranged storage row, explain whether it can be moved out without first relocating other vehicles.
Repair Shops, RV Parks and Managed Properties
If another business or property owner controls the RV’s location, explain who can authorize movement.
Mention unresolved repair charges, disconnected equipment, utilities, support equipment or temporary structures that may have to be addressed before departure.
A vehicle that has remained on a long-term site should not automatically be described as ready for highway travel.
A Useful Access Description
Before an agreed collection, the following information may help:
Size: Approximate RV length and height. Motorhomes: Whether the vehicle starts, rolls and steers. Trailers: Whether tires, wheels, landing gear and hitch equipment appear usable.
Property access: Gates, overhead clearance, access hours and release permissions. Preparation: Whether slides, steps, awnings and other extensions can be retracted. Ground conditions: Known driveway or ground limitations affecting movement.
Do not attempt unsafe repairs or towing to prepare for an evaluation. The purchase and transportation arrangements for any individual RV remain subject to review and agreement.
TEXAS OWNERSHIP AND TRANSFER
Texas RV Paperwork Dallas Sellers Should Check
Texas title and vehicle-transfer requirements come from state law and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, not a separate Dallas city title system.
Before completing a sale, establish who is authorized to transfer the RV, whether its title record is accurate and whether any lender has a continuing interest.
Title, Ownership and Missing Documents
For a standard Texas-titled vehicle sale, TxDMV guidance identifies a properly assigned title and the Application for Texas Title and/or Registration, Form 130-U, among the relevant transaction documents.
The signatures and disclosure requirements depend on the actual ownership record and vehicle classification.
If the Texas title is missing, an eligible party may need to request a certified copy. A bill of sale by itself should not be assumed to replace a required vehicle title.
See TxDMV Buying or Selling a Vehicle and Get a Copy of Your Vehicle Title.
Loans, Liens and Title Brands
If the RV is financed, disclose the outstanding lien when requesting a review. The parties must establish how the lender’s interest will be addressed before clear ownership can be transferred.
Texas may maintain electronic lien and title information for participating lenders.
If the RV has a salvage, rebuilt or other title designation, identify the recorded status rather than describing it as an ordinary clear title.
A financed or branded-title RV may be submitted for consideration, but RVBuyerUSA does not guarantee its purchase or provide an automatic loan payoff arrangement.
Motorhomes, Travel Trailers and Inspections
A motorhome and a travel trailer do not necessarily follow identical documentation requirements.
Texas separately classifies travel trailers and certain camper trailers. Ordinary utility-trailer title exemptions should not automatically be applied to a fifth wheel or other recreational trailer.
Mileage disclosure requirements depend on the covered motor vehicle and applicable exemptions.
Texas eliminated most non-commercial vehicle safety inspections beginning January 1, 2025. Emissions testing remains applicable to qualifying vehicles registered in designated counties, including Dallas. For a motorhome, its fuel type, model year and classification matter.
Consult the TxDMV trailer guidance and Texas DPS Vehicle Inspection Program.
Texas Vehicle Transfer Notification
TxDMV advises sellers of Texas-titled vehicles to submit a Vehicle Transfer Notification within 30 days after a sale or trade-in when applicable.
Timely filing provides protections concerning certain later parking and toll violations. It does not itself transfer the title to the buyer.
Record the buyer’s required information, the vehicle identification number and the transaction date. Confirm the appropriate filing method and retain your records.
For more extensive title, lien, trailer and seller-notification information, see Sell My RV in Texas.
COMPARE SELLING METHODS
Choosing How to Sell an RV in Dallas
A direct buyer is one option. You can also advertise privately, consign the RV or discuss a trade-in with a dealership.
The practical differences include who manages the advertising, how prospective buyers inspect the vehicle, potential fees and the conditions under which payment and ownership transfer occur.
Private Sale
You set the asking price, prepare photographs, arrange viewings and negotiate with prospective buyers.
This gives you more control over the marketing process and may provide an opportunity to seek a retail buyer’s price.
However, you also manage buyer communication, payment verification, title paperwork and any access arrangements for inspections.
If displaying the RV for sale, follow the parking rules applicable to the location.
RV Consignment
A consignment dealership may market and show the vehicle under a written agreement.
Ask about commissions, storage costs, insurance, pricing authority and what happens if the RV does not sell.
Some consignment businesses require the vehicle to be brought to their facility, so movement readiness can matter.
Dealer Trade-In
A dealer may consider your RV as part of a replacement vehicle transaction.
This can reduce the number of separate transactions, but compare the full purchase arrangement.
The trade-in allowance should be considered alongside the replacement RV’s price, fees and financing terms rather than treated as an independent cash offer.
Direct Purchase Review
A direct RVBuyerUSA inquiry lets you ask one potential buyer to evaluate the vehicle without first creating a public listing.
If an offer is available, compare its amount and requirements against your other selling choices.
A direct purchase proposal may differ from a successful private-sale price. No specific offer amount or purchase approval is guaranteed.
DALLAS AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
Dallas Neighborhoods and Nearby Communities
RVBuyerUSA considers purchase inquiries from Dallas and surrounding North Texas communities through its nationwide buying service.
The actual parking location is more useful than a broad metropolitan label because municipal rules, storage agreements and access conditions vary by property.
Dallas Neighborhoods and Districts
Dallas includes residential and commercial areas such as Oak Cliff, the Bishop Arts District, East Dallas, Oak Lawn, Uptown, Downtown Dallas, Deep Ellum, the Design District, Lower Greenville and Lake Highlands.
An RV in a residential driveway may require different access planning from one at a commercial storage property. The individual site matters more than the neighborhood name.
We do not claim a physical buying office or a record of completed RV pickups in any particular Dallas district.
Separate Cities Across the DFW Region
Garland, Irving, Richardson, Mesquite, Grand Prairie, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Duncanville, DeSoto, Rowlett, Plano and Arlington are separate municipalities.
Their local parking and property regulations should not be confused with the City of Dallas code.
You can submit an RV physically located in these communities for individual consideration. Provide the vehicle’s actual ZIP code and explain the storage circumstances.
For broader geographic coverage, visit RVBuyerUSA Nationwide Buying Locations or the Texas RV buying page.
